About Cocktail Samurai
Hi, I’m Jay, Japanese drink blogger extraordinaire. I grew up living in Japan and have seen so many kinds of alcohol drinks, Beer, Sake, Shochu, Whiskey, Cocktail, and more. Japanese people used to drink mostly beer or sake, but when I moved to the U.S., I only saw very limited kinds of variety. When I talked to people in the U.S., they barely knows any Japanese drinks. People know Asahi and Sapporo, but that was pretty much it.
When sushi hit the major market, Sake become popular very quickly. But people still drink very limited kinds of Sakes. It’s not their fault. Most people know a few kinds of Japanese alcohol because they discover them when they go to a Japanese restaurant.

I started thinking about how can I let them know more ways to enjoy Japanese alcohol. People talk about vodka all time, but they almost never talk about Shochu, even though vodka and shochu belong to a similar kind of alcohol. They are both distilled alcohol.
I am also into cocktails. But again, most cocktail recipes use only European and American liquors to mix. If you use Japanese liquor for the same drink, you can create different flavor profiles! That’s more fun and more way to enjoy!
That’s what cocktail samurai is all about.
